When Julia reached out to our team with a picture of her gorgeous home, we immediately recognized her unique and artistic eye for design.
“I’m a single mom working on a budget,” she says. “I love creating beautiful, cozy spaces. I have thrifted and sought second-hand decor and furnishings for beauty on a frugal budget.”
Julia had dark, engineered hardwood floors in her home until a water leak caused the planks to warp and deform one day.
“The floors scratched and were damaged easily,” Julia says.”We had just gotten our first dog!”
A new pup and no floors meant new flooring was needed ASAP. Julia’s insurance offered to cover some of the cost since a leak damaged her engineered floors. The original flooring was over $14 per SF, which was out of budget, and the options in big box stores were not ideal.
Julia has put a lot of love into her home over the years and wanted the perfect flooring. After discovering Flooret in an Instagram ad and seeing the direct-to-consumer price points, she realized she’d be able to re-floor her entire house and have enough room in her budget to redo the window sills!

Modin Base has the same color, pattern, and construction as Modin Signature, at a slightly narrower and shorter size and with a 20 mil wear layer as opposed to 40 mil. Still highly durable and perfect for use in homes like Julia’s.
Now, Julia has beautiful warm flooring that pairs perfectly with her thoughtful design and stands up to her dog, too!
“The installer said that the product was incredible to work with,” Julia says. “My friends cannot believe how authentic the flooring appears. The realistic texture is always noticed.”
Julia loves the look of Kingswood so much on her first floor that she’s already planning to have it installed on her second level, too.
